As the core of international hyperthermia development, our partners — the Von Ardenne Institute — are the founders of the German Society of Hyperthermia (DGHT e.V.).
We are the founders of the Romanian Society of Oncologic Hyperthermia (RSHO), a sister society and member of the Italian Society of Hyperthermia (SIIO), the German Society of Hyperthermia (DGHT e.V.), and the European Society for Hyperthermic Oncology (ESHO).

We are a team of highly qualified doctors and experienced engineers who have been utilizing whole-body hyperthermia with infrared-A radiation (wIRA WBH), as well as local RF hyperthermia, for many years.
We have successfully integrated local and whole-body hyperthermia with various conventional and integrative cancer therapies in clinical settings.
Our extensive experience includes the operation of, and clinical training on, leading hyperthermia devices from Von Ardenne and Andromedic, as well as Oncotherm, Heckel & Syncrotherm.

Our team members have been personally trained and certified by the President of the German Society of Hyperthermia (DGHT), as well as by leading manufacturers such as Von Ardenne and Andromedic.
Our products are certified medical devices, fully compliant with ISO 13485, CE, and MDR standards.
We are partners with the Von Ardenne Medical Institute and offer the most advanced wIRA WBH technology, backed by over 60 years of clinical experience.
As the founders of the German Society of Hyperthermia (DGHT e.V.) and having played a crucial role in the “crystallization stage” of hyperthermia development, the Von Ardenne Institute represents the core of the field — the legacy of Manfred von Ardenne, arguably the most influential figure in the history of hyperthermia:
“A man of extraordinary mind, usually moving a step ahead of world hyperthermia, who readily evolved concepts and technical solutions if they were ineffective; his physical and technical knowledge were absolutely superior worldwide, thinking and acting 25–30 years ahead of his time.”

Founded in 1955, the Von Ardenne Institute was the only private research institution and one of the largest private-sector employers in the GDR.
Closely linked to its founder, the institute focused on physical-technological research and clinical medicine (notably the development of the life-saving heart-lung machine).
Since the 1960s, cancer control and research have increasingly become the primary focus of the institution’s scientific endeavors.

It was Manfred von Ardenne’s visionary approach to oncology that would change the field of hyperthermia forever.
The Birth of sCMT (1965): In 1965, the institute introduced the Cancer Multistep Therapy (sCMT). This landmark concept was based on the “selective destruction” of cancer cells by combining whole-body hyperthermia with induced hyperglycemia and hyperoxemia. This systemic approach aimed to weaken tumor metabolism while simultaneously activating the patient’s immune response.
Technological Milestones: SELECTOTHERM (1978): A major breakthrough in the precision of thermal delivery occurred in 1978 with the introduction of the SELECTOTHERM system – a local and whole-body hyperthermia device. This innovation utilized advanced radiofrequency (RF) to achieve elective heating of deeper tissue layers, bridging the gap between physical theory and clinical practice. It served as a crucial precursor to the high-precision devices used in modern integrative oncology.
The wIRA Revolution (1980s – 1990s): In the 1980s, the institute revolutionized the field again by developing water-filtered infrared-A (wIRA) radiation. By replicating the cooling effect of the earth’s atmosphere, wIRA technology filters out harmful infrared-B and C rays. This allowed for the first time deep-tissue thermal penetration without the risk of skin burns, leading to the creation of the world-renowned IRATHERM® series.
A Living Legacy: Manfred von Ardenne was a man of extraordinary mind, often thinking 30 years ahead of his time. Today, as partners with the Von Ardenne Medical Institute, we carry forward this legacy. The current IRATHERM® 1000 systems represent over 60 years of development, operating in over 250 hospitals across 20 countries, remaining the “core” and the gold standard of international hyperthermia development.
